BACK TO WORK

A very large personal project looking into the relationship I have with the objects that I own. Inspired in part by artists such as Michael Landy, I was interested in the relationship I have with my possessions, and the extent at which the objects I own are an expression of myself. In cataloguing these objects and analysing them, I could detach myself from them, and form a true self portrait.

I started by collecting data, cataloguing every object in room, a total of 557 different possessions. I then analysed these, developing  three categories as to why I own things: either beauty, utility or sentimentality. I then took 100 of these that I felt were more important, and analysed them further, creating the concertina publication, a concertina so it would be possible to view them all at once if the book were pulled out fully, to its eight meter length.
